Brian Flores addressed recent reports tying the Miami Dolphins to a potential trade for Deshaun Watson, telling his players and staff that Tua Tagovailoa is "our quarterback" in a brief but poignant message.

Steve Ross has not shown any interest in trading for Watson, contrary to other reports Tuesday.

The Dolphins selected Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 draft.

A report emerged on Saturday pinpointing the Miami Dolphins as the favorites to land Deshaun Watson in a trade.

That was followed by another report that the Dolphins balked at what the Houston Texans wanted for Watson.

After Sunday's preseason game, Brian Flores said "reports, speculation are not things we really get into" and that any discussions the team has about personnel will remain internal.

Flores also reaffirmed his belief in Tua Tagovailoa.

"I am very confident in Tua," Flores said. "He has done a lot of good things. He has played well. My conversations with a player are going to remain between me and that player."

The New York Jets have acquired pass rusher Shaq Lawson in a trade with the Houston Texans, according to sources.

New York is sending a 2022 sixth-round pick to Houston.

The move comes after the Jets lost Carl Lawson to a season-ending ruptured Achilles.

Sony Michel was at practice with the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday, a day after coming to the team in a trade with the New England Patriots.

"I was surprised," Michel said about being traded. "I would assume that most people, when they're traded, they're surprised a little bit."

The Patriots used the 31st overall pick on the running back in 2018.

"Last two days kind of just been, the best way I can put it is football terminology, sudden change," Michel said. "It's like, something suddenly happens and you just got to get ready to kind of execute. Not much time could be wasted. Just kind of got to get up, get ready to go and kind of get adjusted, acclimated with the new adjustment."

The Carolina Panthers have traded linebacker Denzel Perryman and a 2022 seventh-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for a 2022 sixth-round selection.

The deal is pending a physical.

Perryman, 28, played the first six seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers, including last season when he played in 13 games with six starts.

The Los Angeles Rams have acquired Sony Michel in a trade with the New England Patriots.

New England received two conditional draft picks -- one in the fifth round and another in the sixth -- in the deal.

Michel fills an immediate need for the Rams, who will be without Cam Akers after he tore his right Achilles tendon while working out before training camp.

The Las Vegas Raiders traded Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears three years ago.

Earlier this offseason, the Raiders called the Bears to inquire about bringing Mack back.

A trade would have triggered a cap charge for the Bears of more than $20 million, given Mack’s signing bonus and a 2019 restructuring.

The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to go with Jordan Mailata at left tackle, which could make 2019 first-round pick Andre Dillard expendable.

Teams have inquired with the Eagles about Dillard's availability, according to a report.

Dillard didn't play last season due to a biceps injury.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have acquired linebacker Joe Schobert from the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a report.

Schobert was a presumed starter for the Jaguars.

He signed a lucrative five-year, $53.8 million deal with the Jaguars ahead of the 2020 campaign.

Deshaun Watson is "unlikely to play" in the Houston Texans' preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers "based on the limited reps he's had in practice," coach David Culley said Tuesday.

Watson reported to camp on July 25th after requesting a trade in January. Less than two months after his trade request, the first of 23 lawsuits was filed against Watson. He currently faces 22 active lawsuits with allegations of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior.
